As people's lives become busier we end up doing more in our cars then just driving. Texting is causing more and more accidents each year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration "distracted driving is dangerous, claiming 2,841 lives in 2018 alone. Among those killed: 1,730 drivers, 605 passengers, 400 pedestrians and 77 bicyclists"

As a teen driver here is what you can do to stay safe behind the wheel:

First, take this pledge to end distracted driving : https://www.nhtsa.gov/campaign/distracted-driving

Then, Learn about the laws in NJ for Teens and new drivers.

After, understand that it is illegal to drink under the age of 21, and it is illegal—and deadly—to drink and drive. If a teen is under 21, his or her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) should always be at .00, not just under .08, which is the legal limit for drivers overage 21.

Educate others around you about distracted driving. This includes family, friends and anyone you are in the car with. Tell them how unsafe it is for them to be distracted while driving.
