Students can schedule individual supportive counseling session with their assigned YES Program staff member. These sessions are offered during the school day to ensure that we are able to provide the support students need when they need it the most. Sessions are typically scheduled during electives or lunch periods in order to minimize disruption to class schedules. Students should be mindful of when their appointment is scheduled and check in with their teacher to obtain any work they may miss during their appointment. Students will receive a pass with their appointment date and period to show their teacher to excuse them from class.
*** Special Note***
In the event of a COVID-19 School Closure, we will be conducting sessions via telehealth. Students should reach out to their clinician directly to schedule an appointment. Staff can be contacted by phone, email, or Remind. Staff contact information can be found on the Contact page. Please note that phone calls may be returned from a blocked number. Here at the YES Program we recognize the importance of family involvement in students' lives. We offer family sessions to help promote healthy relationships and communication as well as encourage students' continued academic success, mental and physical health, and positive development in adolescence. Our team is available to support families and help ensure that students are getting the support that they need from teachers, staff, and administration.

Our Services
In the past, the YES Program in collaboration with our Vice Principal Mrs. Mickens, has offered the student mentoring program: DREAM Girls. DREAM stands for dedicated, reliable, educated, admirable mentors. The philosophy of the group is for members to guide and support each other and their peers. DREAM Girls is comprised of upperclassmen in grades 10-12. The group meets weekly and covers topics including self-esteem, communication, relationship issues, social media, academic success, and more. Last year, a new component was added to the group which allowed Mentors to provide a Self-Esteem Workshop to Freshmen during select classes.

The YES Program offers a variety of opportunities for students to obtain their 60 hours of community service required for graduation. Community service projects can include trips and after-school activities. Some past projects students have participated in include making paracord bracelets to send to Operation Gratitude, perler bead key chains with inspirational messages, holiday children activity books, cards for veterans, and much more. The YES Program has partnered with local organizations including the Elizabeth Public Library, The Community Food Bank of NJ, and City Relief to offer interactive community service opportunities for our students.
In addition to community service, the YES Program also plans exciting and fun recreational trips for students to participate in throughout the year. We know that it can be hard for students to make new friends in high school or find something fun to do outside of school. Part of our goal at the YES program is to build a sense of community, friendships, and positive social supports for students through our events and recreational activities.
